Mother's Day is slowly becoming a favorite holiday of mine. It's interesting the things we call our mothers as we get older. Micaela has always called my "mama," which I love, but it is slowly phasing into "mom," which I don't like as much, and sometimes even "moooom" with a heavy sigh, which I really don't like.

The good things about this Mother's Day were:

Micaela got to sing in the primary, which is good because in the past she has started crying when the other kids got to go on the stand and she couldn't,

I got flowers, chocolates, and a handmade card,

We had a great lunch including dessert,

I beat Caleb at basketball for the first time ever and he claims he didn't let me win,

and my parents were able to come out for the weekend, which I love, not just because they always take me shopping and we get to eat out the whole weekend, but it's just nice to have them here. I imagine this is what it would be like to have parents live close by, able to help watch the kids and plan weekend outings. Would be nice. In fact, we even got fliers for nearby houses for sale and passed them to my parents. The hints don't get much bigger (except when we are trying to get you to go to Disneyworld, those hints were pretty big.)

Anyways, I love my mom. I love that she is interested in my life and loves my kids about as much as I do. I love that she makes it a priority to come and visit often so that my kids get to know her. I love that she lets me live my life and doesn't tell me what I'm doing right or wrong, which makes me feel confident that she trusts me. I love that she's always willing to split a dessert and she lets me drag her through model homes and saves coupons for things she knows I need (like diapers) and things she knows I want (like Express jeans.) Thanks mom, for being such a great mother and grandmother to my family.

Another thing about my mom is that she is never in our pictures, causing me to use this old, funny picture!
