I was sitting at Applebees with a bunch of friends when the BYU game came on and I realized I was the only one not cheering when they scored a touchdown.

Every once in a while I remember who I am. I am a person that gets lost in roles and responsibilities, and every so often I have to remember that there is a person underneath the layers. It starts with a moment where I feel content, and when I analyze why I feel content I realize I may be doing something I enjoy. You see, I enjoy things that are just mine. I have a personality that is just me. I think this personality is a little lost lately. I'm not sure why.

I have been very busy at work (and I know I have been complaining all summer that I was slow, but I am soo busy now) and when I am there I focus 100% on my clients. I am a player in their lives and they assign me way too much responsibility. Then I pick up Micaela and I want to only be her mama. I want to read with her, go for walks, stop at Jamba and share a smoothie, or simply lay in bed and watch movies together. I want her to feel that I am nothing but her mother. After she goes to sleep I have one hour to do things for me, but I am usually tired and end up dozing off until Caleb comes home. Then I become a wife. I know I have it easy, as Caleb does as much housework as I do and wisely never expects me to cook for him, but I still talk about spouse things with him until I am too tired or he has a raid on his game (don't ask.) Then I wake up and start over again.

Every once in a while something happens, like I meet a friend for dinner, and she asks my opinion about her new shoes, or a friend stops by to quickly drop something off and tells me how much she enjoys our friendship because I do not pass judgement on her, or I have book club and spend three hours discussing everything from shaving to post-partum depression, or a friend emails me and asks for recommendations for good books and I remember. I remember that I am still a person who loves research, reads good literature, loves to jog in the night, and often cries about the injustices of life. I like this blog because it is just me. I include my family in it and I enjoy sharing pictures, but this is "my thing" and I need that. I think I will take my own advice and take a personal day next week.

Every once in a while I remember why I chose to work with kids. They are honest. Like the little boy who always used to tell me office smelled bad. (For the record I always had scented candles melting on a candle warmer to make it smell inviting!) Or the little girl who said I had "sucky candy," which is true because I stock my office candy with the value candy pack and keep the chocolate to myself. Anyways this little girl at Micaela's gymnastics class made my day. We were waiting outside the gymnastics preschool room, waiting for the previous class to finish, when Micaela starting playing with some of the older gymnasts. When I went over to get her, one little girl said to me (while pointing at Micaela) "is this your little sister?" I told her no, that Micaela was my daughter, and she said "Oh, you look more like a sister than a mom." I knew I was too young to have a daughter! From now on I will introduce Micaela as my little sister. I'm just wondering when I get to stop babysitting?

As mentioned in a previous post, my life at this present time is very boring. However, I still feel the need to provide all three of my readers with new posts. I know I get excited when people update their blogs, so here goes. Besides, I figure if people read blogs for wit, humor, and charm, they are not likely to read mine anyways!
I think I get migraines now. I have heard of migraines. I've heard they are awful and very painful. I've always been a healthy person, hardly ever sick, rarely hurt, you all know the drill. Then last weekend came. I woke up with this insanely bad headache. My head was pounding and there was no way to make it feel better. I took two ibuprofen, because I love ibuprofen and firmly believes that it cures all ailments, much like Windex, and went back to bed. It did absolutely nothing for me. My stomach started to hurt and I became very nauseas. In an attempt to avoid listing all my symptoms in painful detail, I will just say I described this headache to Caleb as "the worst headache of my life." A few hours later I felt fine. Absolutely fine. Like I went to the gym and to the store I was so fine. When I described my symptoms to the experts in my life (my mom and a good friend at work who has a PhD in psychology, making her technically a "doctor") they agreed that I had a migraine. If any of you readers suffer from migraines I would like to know what you do when you experience one, as I am honestly afraid I will shoot myself in the eye the next time I have one. And I say the eye because I cannot imagine anything worse than being shot in the eye, except of course, having another migraine.

You know my life is boring when I decide to write a post about hair. Yes, my changed hair color is the most exciting thing that has happened lately. I have had various different hair colors. I have had brown, blond, red, and as some of you may remember I had a nasty shade of orange hair when applying blond highlights myself. I have never had black, and I thought hey why not? So now I have black hair.

I have noticed (as this picture portrays) that I now also have a tendency to wear all black. I fear I may be turning into my sister, minus the cute little nose and artistic photography skills.

Caleb also made a drastic hair change a few weeks ago. He decided to shave his head. Well he decided I should shave his head. This was a very sad day for me, as I have always loved his hair long. However, I seem to be the only sad one, as the girls who work at Starbucks really like it. He is now getting hit on when stopping by before golfing with friends. Maybe I should take up golf?

I also had to include this picture because Caleb looks so funny. I particularly like his rosy cheeks..still laughing at it! I may just show him this blog to see his reaction.

Micaela's hair has not changed. Not on purpose at least. He hair is incredibly long and curly and seems to grow more each day. I decided to straighten it after her bath to see how long it is. Here is the picture.

It has been a while since I have posted random cute pictures of Micaela so here goes...

She loves jewelry and makeup and almost always has chapstick or lip gloss on. She also likes to wear my high heels.

We have been taking parent/toddler swimming lessons this summer, but we missed our last lesson due to the parasite that closed Utah public pools to children under 5. I was so disappointed because we didn't even take any pictures of her swimming. So here she is in her little bathing suit. You're going to have to imagine me and the water, as I'm not able (or willing!) to take those pictures.

She has also begun to really like to dance, much to my pleasure, and here is a funny shot of her dancing at my grandparents 50th anniversary party...

...and tired out afterwards.

May this week be more interesting than the last...
